Katrina Kaif: Report of my split with Salman is ‘a very silly speculation’
Katrina has termed a recent tabloid report that her chemistry with co-star Akshay Kumar in Welcome has led to a split between her and Salman as “a very silly speculation!”That should answer it, you would say. Kat is still in Salman’s bag!
The trouble is we are not clear what the speculation that Katrina is referring to is. Does she consider her chemistry with co-star Akshay Kumar as speculation or is she referring to her split with Salman Khan?
Even if it was the split there could be ambiguity. Did they not split or were they never an item? In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Katrina also denied reports of Salman interfering in her professional life reiterating, as she has done before, that she has a life of her own.
Katrina has always deftly evaded questions from the press on the exact nature of her relationship with Salman Khan, citing her right to a private life.
Ironically, even when not being asked about them she will readily talk about her mother in Chennai and her six sisters!
We are not clear what celebrities really mean by their private lives. We think, they think private life is that part of their life that they don’t want to talk about.
Salman is known to have helped launch Katrina’s Bollywood career and Katrina is close to Salman and his family and friends
By her own admission, Katrina counts Vipul Shah, Sajid Nadiadwala and David Dhawan amidst her close friends in Bollywood, all of whom are also close friends of Salman Khan.
However, the 23-year-old also emphasizes, “I create my own equations.”
So does Katrina hang around with Salman and his family and friends out of gratitude or is there romance involved?
Mumbai Mirror probed her on the exact nature of her relationship with Salman Khan, pointing out that she has been an integral part of Salman’s family and went to receive him when he was released from jail recently?
Katrina’s response was interesting.
“What one has to do in circumstances when one has no choice is another thing. If I have something to fulfill in my personal life, the media cannot stop me.”
Equally interesting was Katrina’s response when asked if she is single.
“If a woman is not married or engaged, she is single,” she sighed.
Mumbai Mirror: You are neither married nor engaged. That means you are single?
Katrina: (Smiles) Correct.
In November, responding to similar probing, Katrina told TOI, “People have been writing about Salman and me for the past five years. There’s no issue to talk about and that is what I’ve been saying all this while.”
