Sometimes what you read is really what you get. Larry Lee and Back in the Day give audiences just that. They play funk, R&B and soul, rock, jazz and gospel classics that take you back to yesteryear.

The group will perform at the Chromatics Lounge in MotorCity Casino’s hotel on Saturday.

Founded six years ago, the local band has opened for the O’Jays, Brian McKnight, the Average White Band and many more.

Lee, a former NFL player with the Denver Broncos and the Detroit Lions, says “music has always been my passion. I was blessed to play football, but anyone that knows me knows that I am a music nut. All types, all genres.”

Lee says the casino crowds are unique and are one of his favorites to entertain. “They know you and you develop a relationship with them,” he says. “They know and love us.”

During performances, it’s not unusual for Lee and the band to give a shout-out to fans by name. “They are there to have fun. And we have a high-energy show that is fun-loving,” Lee says. “So it is a big party. I look forward to performing. We call MotorCity Casino and Hotel our home.”
