President Bush signs bill for anti-terrorism campaign

WASHINGTON: US President George Bush has signed the bill for anti-terrorism campaign in the country. Under this bill, resources will be provided for increasing security in sensitive American states and cities.

This bill has been prepared in the light of proposals of the commission for investigation of 9/11 attacks. Under this bill, those states and the cities of America will be determined where there are more fears of terrorism and they will be provided resources on this basis.

Sensitive states and cities will be given four billion dollars grant from federal funds for increasing security in rails, transit and buses.

Besides, an amount will be allocated for a new programme under which communication among security officers of each level will be ensured.

Under the bill, targets have been fixed for airport checkpoint screening, for baggage screening within three years.

The bill’s other provisions include 100 percent screening within five years of maritime cargo before it is loaded on ships in foreign ports bound for the United States.
