Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 by admin

There got across 1,400 cases of the BMW e46 M3 CSL built, and by all accounts properties got extremely far received. However, according to Ludwig Willisch, the boss of the automaker’s M division, the recent e92 M3 will not get the same treatment. He – or more than likely the accountants – feel so “based on new numbers, there is a multitude of inherent insufficient requirement for the M3 CSL.”

If a up to date scorching version of the e92 got to exist, it is able to own continued bumped by anywhere based on what i read in 36 to 56 horsepower, shed 200 pounds or more, worn a good deal of weird tires and a set of higher lungs. In sunbeams of the would&wshyp;be volume, though, that could be small, BMW – or again, its accountants – ought to fairly focus on the X6 and X5 for now.

McLaren P11 supercar goes back to the drawing board… in two months

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 by admin

The McLaren P11 should significantly be powered by a 6.2-liter Mercedes AMG unit, but there isn’t anybody that knows yet how the car the current goes obtainable the engine is probable to be on the look like. Frank Stephenson, just of Fiat fame, has carried on supplied instructions to fully redesign the car when he starts at McLaren. However, he will not take up the position at McLaren until he finishes his “gardening leave,” a mandatory escape between sensitive professions too aims to hold off members on rendering such a inside knowledge amidst them.

McLaren reads the present the car will not appear anything and everything fancy the sketches this constructed the rounds persist year. That’s not these types of a bad worry — additonally a astronomical coming across as car, the sketches got uninspiring and a bit derivative. We project so the man who has had a hand in all of it according to the BMW X5 and MINI to the Ferrari F430, Maserati Quattroporte and MC12 maybe has a few well innovations left lying around. Unfortunately, the occurrence of the P11 has carried on pushed returning a year due to the redesign, to perhaps mid-to-late 2010.

Plans for an all-RWD Pontiac shelved?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 by admin

A quick glance at Pontiac’s (rumored) future product plans reveals just how much fuel prices have affected plans for an all rear-wheel drive lineup. Let’s see, we’ve got the Solstice and the G8, and, um… that’s it. Sure, we’re expecting the G8 ST soon, but the El Camino-come-lively will never sell enough to keep bean counters happily sliding their abaci beads in their cubicles. The Solstice also plays to a relatively small crowd, so its future could be up in the air, as well.

As for the rest of the brand’s lineup, the Grand Am G6 will remain on the same front-wheel drive platform for the foreseeable future as there’s just not enough funds to switch it to a rear-wheel-drive platform. Meanwhile, the G5 is tied to the Cobalt and the future Cruze from Chevrolet that uses the FWD Delta platform. The Vibe comes from Toyota and is based on the Corolla’s underpinnings. Please, don’t get us started on a possible Aveo-based subcompact from GM’s “Performance Division”. As our esteemed editor says, “So sad, G8 rules.” Indeed it does, and it may be the best we’ll get from Pontiac for a while.

Moscow 2008: Mazda Kazamai concept officially unveiled

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 by admin

Mazda pulled out all the awkwardly executed stops for the reveal of the Kazamai concept, including four sets of dancers, guys in neon-pink shorts on roller skates and a 40-man Russian singing troop in Soviet-style dress. We couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried, but what better way to kick off our coverage of the Moscow International Auto Salon.

Despite the strange theatrics, the Kazamai is one of our favorite Nagare-themed concepts since the Furai and Kabura. Then again, we’re suckers for two-door crossovers. The Kazamai blends the “flow” theme we’ve seen on several other concepts with a more aerodynamic body and a slightly toned-down demeanor. Could this be a hint at the future of the CX-7? Don’t count it out. But if it does head to production, we’ll take it in a three-door package equipped with the MS3’s drivetrain… and all-wheel-drive.

GT-R drops ‘Ring time down to 7:29

When the 193-MPH Nissan GT-R set a lap time of 7:38 last year at the ‘Ring, besting cars like the Porsche GT3, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Mercedes SLR, the Nissan team was disappointed. There were two damp corners on the track, and everyone was quite sure that the car, piloted by official test driver Tochio Suzuki, could go faster.

Now it has. With a completely dry track, the base model Godzilla-san wearing stock Japanese-market tires shaved 9 seconds off its previous best time, posting a lap time of 7:29. On that same lap, it leapfrogged the Porsche GT2, Koenigsegg, and SLR 722 GT. Now it’s flashing its headlights at the Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, both about one second up the road. So if the standard model on stock tires does 7:29, and the more powerful, lighter GT-R V-Spec has already been casually clocked at 7:25 — betting on what the GT-R’s ultimate best lap time will be begins now… And did we say it can all be yours for $70,000? Damn. Check out Nissan’s official presser after the jump and our First Drive of the 2009 Nissan GT-R by clicking here.
