Fake Nails

Some people have no trouble growing their nails long and healthy, but it may be difficult for some others. While you try to solve the possible organic nail disorders involved, fake nails may be a solution.

Advantages of Fake Nails
These are usually made of acrylic, a quite hard and durable material – harder than natural nails - which won’t easily split, chip or crack.
You can experiment with fake nail design. Try different decoration patterns and just remove the polish with a little nail polish thinner without damaging your natural nail.
They are more reliable and look more natural than press-on fake nails.
Acrylic fake nails are easy to apply – It won’t take more than half an hour for a good technician.
They are easy to maintain – acrylic fake nails only need manicure / refilling every two or three weeks to cover the new nail areas that grow during that period.
Removing fake nails is not difficult if your nail technician uses the proper solution. Your natural nails will remain in the same condition as they were before.
Disadvantages and Risks of Acrylic Fake Nails
They require regular care by a technician to prevent nail fungus from settling between the natural nail and the acrylic layer. Lifting, cracked or broken fake nails should be removed immediately. Have your nails done at well sanitised salons only to avoid any fungus infections.
Cheap and low quality products may contain MMA (Methacrylate), which can rip nails off, and cause serious health disorders, such as rash, nerve, or kidney damage.
Some thick fake nails may look cheap and tacky. A natural look will depend of your nail technician’s ability. Laying thick coats of acrylic is not advisable.
If your fake nail’s apex (the thickest part of the nail) is nor correctly built, you may lose it.
Some artificial nail users claim that the natural nails underneath are weaker and look uglier than ever after being covered by the acrylic layer.
Don’t wear stuck-on fake nails! Apart from the fact that they don’t look natural at all, the glue that sticks them on is a great source of microorganisms such as fungus, bacteria and virus.
Fake Nail Designs
Fake nails allow for experimentation with different design patterns. They can look perfect and attract attention with the right nails design enamel and some simple fake nail design products. However, some people like wearing ready-made designs because of their variety in colour, size and shape.

Fake Nail Removal
What is the best method for removing fake nails? If you had them applied at a nail salon, it would be best for you to have them removed there. However, if you want to remove them at home, you should soak your fingers in acetone or nail remover for some minutes. Then use a fingernail file to remove them carefully. After that, soak them in alcohol for 10 minutes and apply some beauty cream before you polish your natural nails.

Although removing fake nails is not difficult or dangerous itself, if you expose your natural nails and the skin around them to acetone or acetone-containing remover too often, they may weaken up.
