We feel like we can barely tell the difference between the white KRZR from Moto and the original gray — especially if you squint your eyes a bit — but choice is always good nonetheless, and to that end Telus has added the paler variant to its lineup. Going toe to toe with the K1m in the high-fashion game, Samsung’s u510 has also found its way onto the CDMA carrier (look familiar?) with a 220 x 176 display, 1.3 megapixel cam, microSD slot — something its Helio doppelganger lacks — and touch-sensitive controls. Grab your white KRZR for the same price as its grayer counterpart, $149 CDN — or a u510 for $50 CDN less, $100, both on a three-year agreement.

Here’s a novel idea: take a standard clamshell mobile and add in a media player so you can rock out to tunes right on your phone. But wait, we’re not done! Give it some gold accents, too, to make it a sort of fashion accessory. Think it’ll fly? Alright, we’re just having a little fun here; the new 598 from Philips really isn’t anything special, although the black / gold color combo is a little unique. Features include a microSD slot to facilitate the aforementioned rocking out, 220 x 176 internal and 64 x 64 external displays (with the latter being of the monochrome OLED variety), 128MB of internal storage, and a 1.3 megapixel cam. As we’d expect with a Philips piece, this one makes do without GSM 850, so we wouldn’t count on a US launch.

It’s not a surprise, but it’s still overwhelmingly refreshing to see Sony Ericsson finally (and we do mean finally) bringing some 3G action onto AT&T. The “a” variant of the glossy, colorful Z750 clamshell will be hitting AT&T in an official capacity come early April, featuring an OLED external display cleverly concealed by the phone’s translucent shell, a 2 megapixel camera and media player both backed up with Memory Stick Micro M2 expansion, stereo Bluetooth, and of course, that lovely HSDPA 850 / 1900 that’s eluded Sony Ericsson’s AT&T offerings for far, far too long. Look for it to go out the door for $49.99 after a $100 rebate.

What’s blue, silver, and boring all over? If you guessed the Nokia 6205, well, you clearly knew something about the phone you were holding back to us — but nonetheless, go ahead and give yourself a gold star and a pat on the back for a job well done. The low-end flip for Verizon, which we’d mentioned not long ago, has finally been exposed in all its entry-level glory; don’t get us wrong, we’re delighted that Espoo seems to be back in the thick of the CDMA hunt, but we think we’re going to hold out for something just a little more visually stimulating than this. The lack of EV-DO isn’t helping its case either, though we suppose the external controls and camera flash are welcome additions for the folks who actually hold out until its alleged mid-June release.

Update: Peep that little “EV” signal strength indicator up there? Looks like there might be a 3G radio hiding in this one, after all. If so, kudos, Nokia! Thanks, VZW_Emp!

If it weren’t for RIM’s “help, we’re stuck in 2006 and can’t get out!” approach of topping this thing out with EDGE data, we’d be all over its warm embrace of an all-new form factor — but yeah, seriously RIM, what’s up with that? Boy Genius Report has outed a few more alleged specs of Waterloo’s first foray into the clamshell market, the Kickstart — and it looks like we can expect a 2 megapixel cam, SureType (as though we couldn’t have figured that out ourselves), internal QVGA and external 160 x 128 displays, WiFi, and a true 3.5mm headphone jack. We’re also seeing some new shots with T-Mobile branding, which makes sense considering the carrier’s longstanding efforts to be on RIM’s bleeding edge. Oh, and just for the humor factor, RIM appears to be drawing parallels between the Kickstart and a few… uh, “objects,” such as the “anodized color” similar to that found on an “urban nomad tool.” So this is how product development goes down — explains a lot!

Just days after Telus picked up the attractive LG Venus, the carrier has officially started offering up the Motorola Mike i877. The half-rugged, half-sleek looking flip phone was designed by Pininfarina and features integrated Bluetooth, a multimedia player (MP3, AAC, WMA), microSD expansion slot, miniUSB port, 1.3-megapixel camera, VibraCall, a digital voice recorder and the obligatory push-to-talk support. If it floats your boat, you can snag it now sans contract for $349.99, or anywhere between $149.99 to $299.99 if you’re cool with signing the dotted line for varying lengths of time.

Reaction to NTT DoCoMo’s new logo has been mixed, but when it comes to the carrier’s phones, there’s still very little to not love — and when we say “love,” we mean “feel sorry for ourselves that we don’t have access to these things.” The recently-announced (and copied) Raku-Raku F884i from Fujitsu is now available in three delicious colors, featuring the same one-seg mobile TV tuner and gargantuan display present on the majority of modern handsets for the Japanese domestic market. Other goodies include a configurable orientation sensor that, by default, fires up the TV when tilted in one direction and the camera when tilted in the other (clever!) and upgraded voice recognition that allows for complete email dictation by sending the user’s voice to a server and text back to the phone in real time. Oh, and this one does global roaming, too, so we’ll take one of each, please.

Remember that spellbinding page-turner of a user guide for Motorola’s W755 that we brought you a while back? Of course you do — how could anyone forget? The anticipation of a new model in Moto’s W line of low- to midrange handsets is always nearly too much to bear for us, as we’re sure it is for you. Anyway, enough with the ribbing and onto business: press shots of the Verizon-bound flip have surfaced, showing that the phone will be available in at least two shades, black and purple. With a 1.3 megapixel camera on board it’s not about to set any records or turn any heads, but the external touch-sensitive music controls are a bonus — and hey, we guess a choice of colors is always nice. Still no word on a release here, so we hope these shots will hold you over in the meanwhiles.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Virgin Mobile rocks an ever-so-slightly higher end lineup north of the border than it does in the US, and to that end, it’s just released the RAZR 2 V9m. We all know the drill here by now: 2 inch external QVGA display with music controls, 2.2 inch internal QVGA display, stereo Bluetooth, EV-DO, microSD expansion, and a 2 megapixel camera, all of which are ready to sit just above the KRZR in Virgin’s stable. Grab it now for $149 CAD (about $147) on a three-year deal.
