Lexus unveils IS 250 Sports Concept in Sydney

Monday, October 13th, 2008 by admin

At the ongoing Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, the same show where Australian sportscar-maker Elfin took the wraps off its new Type 5 Clubman, Lexus unveiled a new version of its IS 250 sports sedan called the Sports Concept.

So what, you ask is the Lexus IS 250 Sports Concept? Think of it as IS F-light, but not quite as light on substance as appearance packages from its German rivals (think Audi S-line or Mercedes AMG sport packages). The show car has been outfitted with 19″ wheels hiding cross-drilled two-piece rotors clamped by six-pot calipers up front and four-pots in the rear, painted trademark Lexus F blue. It also sports Billstein shocks and springs; sway bars and chassis braces; an enlarged air intake and cat-back exhaust; a new clutch and short-shift kit; a carbon fiber engine cover and an assortment of spoilers and skirts.

In short, what we’re looking at is an IS F, only without the 5-liter V8. The revised breathing systems squeeze out a modest 1.5 percent increase in output from the 2.5-liter V6 for a total of about 213hp. The add-ons are currently being considered for the Australian market, but we’re sure there are plenty of fans of the IS F on this side of the globe who don’t need to hit 60 in the fours and wouldn’t mind a more affordable alternative given the current economic climate.

Updated 2009 Lexus IS images arrive on web

Thursday, September 4th, 2008 by admin

While work is reportedly be done on developing a cabrio version of the Lexus IS and a lighter-weight version of the fire breathing IS-F, the IS 250 and 350 need some attention too. They’re receiving mild updates for the 2009 model year, images of which have found their way onto the web. Though not expected to officially bow until the Paris Motor Show in October, the ‘09 IS will be sporting an ever so slightly revised front end, new side mirrors with turn signal indicators, redesigned taillamps with integrated L-shaped reverse lights and a new wheel design. In true Lexus tradition, the exterior changes are about as minimal as they get and require close comparison with an ‘08 model to appreciate. We can see that the front bumper, lower air intakes and fog lights have been softened, but that’s about it. While we don’t know anything official about mechanical changes, Carscoop reports that a revised electronic stability control system will be part of the ‘09 package.

Lexus files trademarks for IS Coupe

Thursday, April 24th, 2008 by admin

coupe, is, is250c, is300c, is350c, lexus, lexus is coupe, lexus is250c, lexus is300c, lexus is350c, LexusIs250c, LexusIs300c, LexusIs350c, LexusIsCoupe

We’ve been hearing about a possible Lexus IS coupe for what seems like eons, and by most accounts, it’s likely to hit the streets sometime around the turn of the decade. A convertible is supposedly in the works too, but until now, there’s been limited proof that Lexus was planning to offer the two-door version of its entry-level sedan. However, the crew at my.is has been scouring U.S. and Canadian trademark applications and has come up with three new filings from Toyota’s luxury division that could mean Lexus is at least considering bringing the IS coupe to market.

The trademarks include alphanumeric names with a “C” affixed to the end, including the IS250C, IS300C and IS350C. “C” could mean a couple of things, but the smart money is on “Coupe.” It’s also telling that Lexus’ lawyers have trademarked the IS300C designation, since there’s nothing to slot in between the current entry-level IS250 and the markedly more powerful IS350. There’s no filing for an IS-FC, but if Lexus finally decides to provide the coupe people crave and do serious battle with the BMW M3, it’s just a matter of time before we see some derivation of that name pop up in the trademark office.

Is Click Fraud Increasing?

Monday, April 14th, 2008 by admin

In a report in January, Click Forensics found that the overall click-fraud rate for the online advertising industry was 16.6% in the last quarter of 2007, up from 14.2% for the same period a year earlier reports Forbes. In contextual advertising networks like Google Adsense and Yahoo! Publisher Network, Click Forensics estimated that 28.3% of clicks were fraudulent, up from 19.2% for last quarter of 2006.
A growing portion of that traffic, Click Forensics argues, comes from so-called botnets–millions of PCs hijacked with malicious software and programmed to flood certain sites with clicks.

This is all part of the battle for supremacy between Google and Yahoo! for click through advertising, and Yahoo! have announced a partnership with Click Forensics. But Click Forensics are not the most popular organisations with other search engines “who have rebuffed Click Forensics’ repeated accusations that they underestimate or ignore the volume of fraudulent clicks on their search pages and content networks.”

There is disagreement between search engines such as Google and Click Forensics as well as advertisers who “hesitant to share too much traffic data with Google and Yahoo!; they fear compromising their users’ privacy. They also worry that Google and Yahoo! could raise their advertising rates or use the data to tune their own content to better compete with small players.”

iriver-e100-for-sale.jpg

We weren’t terribly impressed by the iriver E100’s size or functionality, but at $110 for a 4GB player with this size of screen, it’s certainly hard to complain. For $50 more you can get an 8GB player, and both sizes come in pink, black, blue and brown and white flavors. You can pick it up now at Amazon.com or J&R, and we’re sure other online retailers will be quick to jump on board.

How much is that domain worth?

Monday, April 14th, 2008 by admin

That’s the question this article in Domain Informer asks, and they give some answers.

The article says this is probably the most common question that new domainers have. They want to know if they have struck gold with their latest brainwave or at least a little more than it cost to register that domain.
