Knight Rider: The Liveblog — Season 1, Episode 4

Thursday, October 16th, 2008 by admin

One more episode of this, and my over/under prediction of 5 for show cancellation (I took the under) is toast. In any case, here I am. Again. Lucky me, lucky you.

Last week, Mike and Zoe went to Baja, where it was Zoe’s turn to wear a bikini for extended periods of screen time. Bruce Davison’s character yelled some more for no discernible reason, and KITT turned into a submarine. And to think, Ford doesn’t even make a submarine!

Anyway, this week, Mike gets poisoned (fingers crossed), according to the official synopsis:

“A Hard Day’s Knight” Pieces of Mike’s past are revealed as a lethal poison threatens his life.

Knight Rider premiere LIVEBLOG tonight at 8PM EST!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008 by admin

He’ll be liveblogging the episode’s broadcast premiere on NBC tonight at 8PM EST right here on Autoblog, just like he did for the made-for-TV movie that aired last February, and he wants to preserve his first impressions just for you. We’ve also kept him in a cage during the show’s entire development process, and every night we poke him with a stick while playing the Knight Rider theme song. He’ll be extra ornery for the return of Michael Knight Mike Tracer and KITT to the small screen, so be right back here at 8PM EST for the fun.

Knight Rider premiering online Sept. 17th, a week before broadcast

Hey kids, don’t forget: the new, not-at-all-improved Knight Rider becomes a weekly series on Wednesday, September 24th. As was the case during the pilot that aired back in February, I’ll be on my couch with my laptop, liveblogging the proceedings and adding much-needed “perspective” each week, right until the show’s cancellation. Maybe you couldn’t care less about the liveblog, though. Or maybe you’re just a glutton for punishment. If that’s the case, you’re in luck — the Peacock is posting the season premiere online at NBC.com and Hulu.com on September 17, a week before the network broadcast. I’m gonna pass on the sneak peek, because I don’t want want to taint my initial reaction to KITT’s new Attack Mode (above). That, I’m saving for you guys. Mark your calendars. In the meantime, I’ll watch this again instead.

Knight Rider producer interviewed: Turbo Boost, Battlestar Galactica and new Attack Mode

We all know what a disaster the 2-hour Knight Rider movie was (click here for a refresher). Regardless, the return of the series has been green lit for the Fall and Shadowy Flight recently sat down for an interview with Gary Scott Thompson, Executive Producer and Showrunner of the series. Thompson’s creadentials include creating the show Las Vegas and the original Fast and the Furious movie, and he also points out that he had nothing to do with the 2-hour Knight Rider movie that aired in February. The show’s new EP revealed that he and his writers are leaving the 2-hour movie in the past. His new writing staff, which includes writers from Lost, Prison Break and Smallville, but also Walker, Texas Ranger and Charmed, is dealing with some of those plot points introduced in the movie that now can’t be ignored, but are basically going to start all over again with the first episode.

You can check out the two-part interview by hitting the source link below, but the major bit of news revealed is that Turbo Boost will again be part of KITT’s arsenal, though the technology will be reinvented for this era where fast cars that jump aren’t all that mind blowing. Thompson also told Shadowy Flight that the overly winged Attack Mode KITT is being redone and will be different than the one seen in the movie. Finally, Thompson compares his Knight Rider series that’s still in gestation to one of our favorite shows on TV, Battlestar Galactica. Both are reinventions of older TV shows, but BG is currently the shining light of modern television, while Knight Rider has gotten off to an extremely rough start. We hope it compares to the weekly trials of Admiral Adama and the crew of Galactica, but we’re not holding our breath. Thanks for the tip, Neil!
