Splatterhouse resurrected for ‘next-gen’ consoles

When we think of great gaming experiences that are long overdue for a revival, only one name comes to mind. No, not RocketKnight Adventures (good call though) … it’s Splatterhouse. If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: storytelling in games needs an injection of creativity! So what better property to invest our trust in than Namco Bandai’s Splatterhouse? It’s got it all: an evil mansion (the titular Splatterhouse, naturally); a Friday the 13th-style hockey mask … err, “terror mask”; and a unique protagonist named Rick Taylor fighting gross, puss-filled baddies in a supernaturally enhanced quest to save his girlfriend.

With that said, we’re sure you’ll relish the news – literally bursting through the cover of next month’s EGM – that Splatterhouse has had an ancient Mayan sacrificial mask strapped to its corpse and been resurrected for “next-gen” consoles, on a mission to retrieve money straight out of our wallets. But really, Splatterhouse?

Soul Calibur IV’s Premium ‘tournament kit’ explained

Remember when we told you about all the goodies available in Soul Calibur IV’s $79.99 “Premium Edition?” Surely you recall the self-explanatory collector’s tin, the comic slash artbook and the “extra customization content.” But what of the “tournament kit,” that nebulous bonus which we, after several heartfelt attempts, simply could not explain to ourselves?

Clearly sensing the many sleepless nights prompted by this enigma, Siliconera has revealed just how the tournament kit will, according to Namco Bandai, “give fans the opportunity to document the battle amongst friends.” It’s … it’s … (highlight to read) a tournament bracket card!

Namco is hiring to develop iPhone games

Namco has posted a job advert for iPhone Games Engineer. It seems that they are hard at work in making games for iPhone. In fact, maybe they are indeed working on something more than just porting Pac-Man and Galaga to the device.Here is what job-posting read:
iPhone Game Engineers are responsible for developing and localizing game content for Apple iPod and iPhone devices. We are looking for Mid-level to Advanced-level candidates. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years experience in the game industry working in video game console or Macintosh OS X development.
