Emergency Party Button turns cribs to clubs in seconds flat

Not to be confused with the absolutely worthless (sorry, the truth hurts) Big Red Button of Doom, the Emergency Party Button has a very specific purpose. Designed to take a vanilla home from mundane to spectacular in just seconds, this connected trigger basically flips a boring crib into a bumpin’ club whenever you see fit. Just to give you an idea of what goes down when you mash the button, you’ll see hallway lights turn off, blinds close, a fog machine come alive, speakers crank up and loads of laser lights turn active. All told, the project cost the builder just north of $600, which seems like a real bargain given what you get. Jump on past the break to have a look on video.

LG’s Flatron LX206WU joins the multiple USB display party

We’re not sure why hooking up six displays has suddenly become the new USB multiple-monitor demo of choice, but LG isn’t one to let Samsung have all the glory — the company just announced the USB-capable 20.1-inch Flatron LX206WU, which outguns Sammy’s UbiSync 940UX by a single, triumphant inch. LG says you can feed up to six displays from a single USB port using a hub, but it’s not saying what the max video bitrate or resolution is. Just like the Samsung, it looks like USB video support is Windows-only for now, but Mac and Linux peeps can jack into the 5000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time through DVI and VGA, which are notably absent on Sammy’s unit. No word on Stateside availability, but if you’re headed to Korea we hear a smile and 390,000 won ($388) should do the trick.

Geeks Halloween Party Costumes

Become a search engine using a crochet top and pants or preferably staple any type of netting cloth that you can land hands on and attach bits and pieces of net from your clothing. Staple signs and logos of some popular Urls or website addresses on the netting along with popular keywords such as ‘romance’, ‘horror stories’, ‘my beloved vampire’ and others and behold! you are a search engine in a minute. You can look like a nerdy boy from 50s by wearing a white shirt, black pants with gallus, white socks and black shoes. Put a bowtie and big, black-framed eyeglasses and you look exactly like a nerd. If you want to be a nerd in a prom, add a satin jacket to the ensemble with a red rose or handkerchief in the pocket.

Geeks love anything related to computers. So, why not try a computer costume this Halloween. Take a big cardboard box and make hole for neck and arms in it. Paint a computer screen on it. You can add a keyboard painted on a cardboard sheet and attach it to your waist. Cover your head with a small-sized cardboard box and paint in the gray or black color. Alternatively, you can take a long cardboard box, such as that of a refrigerator, and paint cell phone on it. Let the face be visible from cell phone’s screen and have a sign for the guests pasted just below your face to sms their names, addresses and phone numbers to your haunted mobile, so that you visit them at night. You can write other messages too related to Halloween theme.
