How you say “enough” in French: Citroen releases sixth GT teaser

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 by admin

In a move more “Um, yeah…” than “Oh yeah!”, Citroen has released the sixth teaser image of the car that will, one of these days, be revealed entirely to the world, all at once, front and back. We aren’t even sure if this qualifies as a tease, since getting a glimpse at a front end we’ve already seen doesn’t really ring the bell. What we can say is that one of our commenters appears to be right: the car does look like it’s only 10 inches high.

Hanging back: GT by Citroen rear comes up for air

Sunday, September 28th, 2008 by admin

It’s time for your next dose of the GT by Citroen concept. To the commenter who wrote that the front of the car looks like a catfish — well, in a victory for symmetry, the back of the car looks like a catfish, too, and a couple of other gilled sea creatures. No matter its fishy similarities, it also look like it will be a lot of fun to throw this baby around Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The tease can’t go on much longer — the Paris Motor Show begins in a week. We’ll be there with cameras and bait, just in case.

2008 was predicted to be a big year for the PS3, and it looks like things are going according to plan: Sony announced today that European PS3 sales had topped the five million mark, and that the PS3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 sur le continent since October. Combined with the PS3’s strong US showings lately, and that’s a pretty solid run — and we’d assume things are only get to get better once MGS4 hits in June. Hmm, looks like a few of you decided to take the plunge after all.

Remember when you discovered that you could check out your Xbox 360’s heatsink without voiding the warranty? Yeah, fun times. Now, we’re getting a closer look at the third-generation PlayStation 3 heatsink — and this time, you won’t be required to perform any strange feats of inverted photography in order to take a peek. Furukawa Electric recently showed off the next-gen sink at Techno-Frontier 2008 in Japan, and aside from ditching the copper pipes used in the first two iterations, this one has also split in two in order to cool the Cell and RSX processors separately. Additionally, the latest version sucks down up to 70 fewer watts than the first-gen model, yet manages to still keep your precious console from spontaneously melting. Three cheers for progress, we say.

You may not have the disposable income to take home our one of a kind PS3 Laptop (which is still up for charity auction!), but that doesn’t mean you don’t have the time or wherewithal to build one of your own. Which is why we’ve asked our man Ben Heck to show everybody how he built the thing for the benefit of independent modders everywhere. In this installment we’ll take apart the PS3, identify the parts within, and then reassemble them in a more compact way. We’ll also install a USB breakout cable and take a look under the mammoth heatsinks and pipes. Read on!

We kid, we kid. MGS4 and GT5 are going to rock and you know it. Still, that doesn’t excuse the existence of Messiah Entertainment’s “Hardwear Console Armor,” which apparently enables your PS3 to deflect bullets in addition to playing games and Blu-ray movies. Don’t forget to add the controller armor, which’ll actually probably impart some much-needed weight to the SIXAXIS and also let you break the crap out of your TV when you toss the thing in frustration. Seriously, take the $30 these things’ll cost you and put it towards a DualShock 3, alright? You’ll be much happier, your console will look less ridiculous, and no one will make fun of you. Okay, so two out three ain’t bad.

After hitting delays already, we can’t say that this was the PlayStation Home press release we’ve been expecting. Nevertheless, Sony just announced that it is expanding the closed PlayStation Home beta to more users in “Fall 2008.” Kazuo Hirai, prez and ringmaster of Sony Computer Entertainment, said, “We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service.” Come on Mr Hirai, you can say it, PlayStation Home is delayed. See, that’s wasn’t so hard.
