Samsung hasn’t exactly been flooding the market with its Aura laptops since it kicked off the line last year, but the few models it has released so far have certainly been decent enough, and its just-announced R410 model looks to be no exception. This one squeezes right into the middle of the pack with a 14.1-inch, 1,280 x 800 display, which gets backed up by “Intel’s latest 45nm Penryn CPUs,” ATI Radeon Xpress 1250M graphics, a DVD burner, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, and a welcome ExpressCard slot. All of that comes in an expectedly glossy package that weighs in at just over five pounds, and boasts a starting price of £499 (or about $1,000). Look for it to hit Europe in May, with no word of a release ’round these parts just yet.

Nokia N810 with WiMAX set to launch at CTIA on April 1st?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 by admin

Nokia, N810, with, WiMAX, set, to, launch, at, CTIA ,on, April ,1st?

Remember the rumor we saw floating about a few weeks ago about a Nokia N810 refresh? Well, the lads at The Boy Genius Report are reporting — on a rumor mind you — that Nokia is set to launch its N810 refresh with WiMAX at CTIA in April this year. Interestingly, the name will remain the same, and not be labeled the Nokia N830 as we’d first thought. Yeah, it’s only a rumor at this point, but we’re thinking that giving this radio-less internet appliance a bit more reach is nothing but a good thing.

Stars set Obama speech to music

Monday, March 3rd, 2008 by admin

Actress Scarlett Johansson and jazz legend Herbie Hancock sing lines in the music video, created by Will.I.Am from pop group Black Eyed Peas.

The rapper was inspired to create the song, Yes We Can, after the Democratic candidate spoke in New Hampshire.

“That speech effected and touched my inner core like nothing in a very long time,” Will.I.Am said.

The result was produced in two days and has been watched by millions of internet users.

Others participants include R&B singer John Legend, rapper Common, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, CSI star Adam Rodriquez and Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger.

Obama approval

Will.I.Am explained: “It was as if he was talking to and defending everything that made me who I am.

“I took that speech, and I wanted everyone else to be inspired by that speech as I was.”

It has gone down well with Mr Obama.

The candidate has had it posted on his website and personally recommended it to journalists following his campaign.

But Will.I.Am said Mr Obama’s team has not been in touch personally: “They have more important things than to be contacting me to say thank you.

“If they had time to call me, I’d be panicking.”

Four years ago, the Black Eyed Peas supported Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
