Vodafone impending the Touch Pro to touch decreased in the UK their month, and guaranteed enough, argued expectation has become a reality. HTC’s mighty WinMo-powered smartphone is now to be had based on what i read in official UK distributor devicewire, and if you just recently so transpire to use pounds as your number one currency, you can contend one of your own for the eye-popping worth of £514.99 (including VAT). We will not bother converting the to bucks — faith us, you are bigger off pretending you do not know.

Rumored HTC Sirius, Erato, and Wings get detailed specs and dates

Thursday, May 8th, 2008 by admin

Cellphone, Erato, Sirius, Smartphone, Wings

We don’t know where the information came from and (as ever) we can’t be absolutely certain that it’s genuine, but over the last few days a range of specific details on some previously rumored HTC mobiles have turned up in data sheet and picture form over at PDAdb.net. First up is the HTC P6500 Sirius: a quad band, WiFi and EDGE device that runs Windows Mobile 6, has a 400MHz Samsung processor, a 3.5-inch QVGA display, and also comes with 256MB and 64MB of RAM and ROM respectively. Next up is the HTC S420 Erato flip smartphone, which could potentially be the successor to the Star Trek. This 99 gram, 2.4-inch screen flipper should come with the same 400MHz CPU and Windows Mobile 6 operating system as the Sirius, but adds features like UMTS and HSDPA connectivity, an FM radio receiver, SiRF Star III GPS, and a 2 megapixel shooter. Finally there’s the touchscreen featured (but stylus lacking) HTC S730 Wings which shares the same CPU, operating system, connectivity, screen, camera, GPS, and storage as the Sirius. In fact, the only difference we can tell between the two is the addition of WiFi, the exclusion of FM, and a different form factor to accommodate a slide-out QWERTY keypad. PDAdb quotes possible release dates for these unannounced and currently rumored devices as August for the Sirius, April for the Erato, and July for the Wings. You can’t get a more detailed “rumor” than that.

RIM’s BlackBerry 8300 received, photographed

Handsets, RIM

You know there’s nothing we adore more than snapshots of our favorite gear that we sadly can’t touch just yet, and the BoyGenius himself has snapped up the elusive BlackBerry 8300 just days after codename “Daytona” first hit the ‘net as a plainly labeled evaluation unit. Reportedly, the 8300 is a hair slimmer / smaller than the 8800, features an “outstanding” integrated speaker, and touts a much more manageable and responsive keyboard to boot. Interestingly, his unit didn’t seem to sport video recording nor WiFi (bummer), and it was constructed primarily of plastic and soft rubber accents, which apparently added up to a fairly stylish device. The built-in OS was AT&T branded, but did feature a spell checker, fullscreen mode for playing back videos, and the ability to “create your own folders on the home screen and move any applications in and out of those folders.” Not much nitty gritty beyond that, but be sure to click on through for a few closeups, and hit the read link for the full rundown of snapshots.

BT said to be prepping a “BlackBerry-style” hybrid handset

Britain’s top fixed-line carrier is apparently aiming to get back in the handset game, as Times Online is reporting that said company will reveal a “BlackBerry-styled” device that does everything your typical smartphone can along with one extra inclusion. According to the writeup, the forthcoming device will “switch from BT’s wireless Home Hub indoors to Vodafone’s network on the move,” and it’s expected to be sold with a broadband package. Of course, those familiar with BT will recall that this isn’t the outfit’s first foray in the sector, but it’s hoping the new handset will fare a good bit better than the poorly received BT Fusion. So, how’s about a picture of this thing?

Update: The BT ToGo is official.

British carrier O2 has added the previously Vodafone-exclusive Treo 500 to its roster of business class smartphones. O2 is offering Palm’s latest Windows Mobile handset for free with certain data and voice plans, which is probably the only way the company could get anyone to take these underwhelming hunks of plastic off their hands.

The press conference, in which the announcement of ‘Centro’ launch was made, was held in Mumbai. The company has launched the smartphone, keeping in view the youngsters in the India market as its target audience.

Centro will be launched at a price of Rs. 13,990 and will be available at IT retail stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Pune, and Chandigarh. With a weight of hardly 124 grams, Centro will be one of the lightest smartphones in the Indian cell phone market today. The mobile phone has been given a completely new, sleek and fresh look and has been equipped with a number of excellent features.

As per Olivier Rozay - Regional Director (Asia pacific) of Palm, its first model that was launched in September 2007 was mainly targeted at the business class. However, Centro has been launched by the company to generate interest amongst the younger generation. The cell phone comprises of features like voice, text, email, Web, contact and calendar options. With this, it enables the business users to easily remain in touch via email.

The voguish look of the phone has been complimented with a QWERTY keyboard. Centro also has a touch screen as an alternate input option. AT&T Tilt Smartphone

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 by admin

att-tilt-smartphone.png

The AT&T Tilt is one of the latest mobile phones released in 2007 that runs on Window Mobile 6 Professional Edition. It has a QVGA 240 x 320 touch screen (that comes with a stylus) but it also works well with finger scrolling and panning; a Windows Mobile Today Screen themes and HTC’s plugin with shortcuts to a few applications along with plugins for TeleNav and AT&T Xpress Mail.

What’s cool about this device is that it has WiFi capabilities, Bluetooth support, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus lens, an integrated GPS, and a slideout QWERTY keypad in which you can “tilt” your phone into 40 degrees for easier viewing (hence the name).

You can send and receive e-mail and multimedia messages easily, browse through the Internet, watch streaming videos, listen to satellite radio, or download your own music through AT&T Music and Video, all at broadband speed.

However, there are some things that can be seen as bothersome with the Tilt. For one, it’s bulky, even thicker than many smartphones today. Its speakerphone quality is not impressive, the talk-time battery life is quite short, and the picture quality is subpar (considering it’s a 3 megapixel camera).

Overall, the AT&T Tilt promises to be the a powerful smartphone for business users with its full range of wireless options, Windows Mobile 6, and a unique tilt screen.
