2010 Buick Regal caught testing in China

Saturday, September 20th, 2008 by admin

We don’t feel slighted anymore over the Chinese getting what appears to be a pretty nice looking Buick Regal, not after those spy shots from earlier today showing the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that we’ll get in the U.S. After all, the Chinese Buick Regal appears to be not much more than an Opel Insignia with a new front end based on these spy shots, while the U.S.-spec Buick Lacrosse gets an entirely unique interior and exterior design. All three cars - the Opel Insignia, Chinese market Buick Regal and U.S. market Buick LaCrosse - are based General Motors’ Epsilon II platform. Of course, the Buick brand is much bigger in China than here in the U.S., and the redesigned Regal, one of the cars that helped the brand gain popularity early on in China, looks ready to continue that trend. Thanks for the tip everyone!

The last time we saw some good spy shots of the 2009 Chevy Camaro, it was sitting on a trailer waiting for transport. Those shots included images of the car’s interior, but we’ve got more for you today courtesy of a Jalopnik reader who snapped a camouflaged prototype just sitting around somewhere. The interiors of both cars appear to be the same, which supports the theory that this instrument panel is close to production ready. It incorporates a number of elements from the Camaro Concept’s interior, including the big gauge pod with two large dials for the tach and speedo, as well as a cluster of four gauges at the bottom of the center console for battery voltage, oil pressure, oil temperature and one we haven’t seen on a production car before: torque. Sure, the concept interior’s flare has been toned down for production, but GM did not raid the corporate parts bin as much for the Camaro’s interior as Chrysler has apparently done for the Dodge Challenger’s interior. Having launched the Continental GT in 2003, the four-door Continental Flying Spur in 2005, the Azure in 2006, the Continental GT Convertible in 2006 and the Brooklands earlier this year, Bentley is now turning its attention to its flagship sedan: the Arnage. Although the vehicle has been on the road since 1998, that’s still nothing compared to its predecessor, which was introduced in 1980 before being replaced by the Arnage. No matter which way you cut it, though, the Arnage has just turned ten years old, and that’s a long product cycle. Reports and spy shots suggest, however, that a new version is expected for 2010.

There’s no telling to what degree the new Arnage will be a completely new model, however sources suggest that, thanks in part to a lengthened wheelbase, Bentley will target the Rolls-Royce Phantom with its new limousine. However, previous reports have discounted the possibility of a diesel engine or Bugatti’s quad-turbo W16 finding its way into the engine bay. We can, however, still hold out hope. Not that Bentley’s storied 6.75L twin-turbo V8 is a disappointment mind you. Believe us, we’ve sampled it.
