Capcom registers ‘multiplatform’ Mega Man 9 investing in OFLC

We started to waste track of games featuring Capcom’s iconic purple bomber when properties initiated inserting arbitrary letters and expressions to every sequel — that is why we got overjoyed to hear who Capcom just recently registered Mega Man 9 investing in the Office of Film and Literature Classification (Australia’s ESRB). That’s right, just now Mega Man 9 — not Mega Man Zero 9, Mega Man X9, Mega Man 9 ZX, or Mega Man 9 2: Electric Boogaloo.

The OFLC entry has the game slated for a multiplatform release, while the several insubstantial of popular credence clue the Rockman’s new adventure can take place on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. We by and large scoff at unattributed gossip, but surrounded by vivid visions of online multi-man robot slaying dancing during our heads, our powerful scoffin’ muscles feel a tad bit atrophied.

Wits and Wagers trivializes XBLA

A new Xbox Live Arcade release is upon us, brothers and sisters. This vile temptation goes by the name of Wits and Wagers and it tempts our youth to succumb to the terrible sin of gambling. True, the abomination may be disguised as a simple trivia game, but close inspection reveals that the only way to win is to bet on the winning answer. Truly it is an evil game, and one that you should spurn as you would spurn a rabid dog.

But seriously, folks, Wits and Wagers is a trivia game and it’s available now for 800 Microsoft points. Oh, and Scene-It owners take note: it features support for the Big Button controller. It also make rather … interesting use of the Vision camera. Go grab the trial version and see what you think.

Vigilante 8 Arcade devs shoot for June, will include DLC

When we first caught wind (or is that exhaust?) of it, the Xbox Live Arcade version of retro car combat game Vigilante 8 was due for “spring.” Now, more specifically, developer Isopod says it’s shooting for early June, though it warns that the final decision will be Microsoft’s.

Though that’s a little later in spring than we would have liked, we were interested to hear that the team has already moved on to making DLC for the game, so what it lacks in promptness, it sounds like it could make up for in sheer girth.

Alright, kids, nothing to see here. Move along. As you may have heard, there will be no new Xbox Live Arcade release today. Nope. Nothing at all. We’re not sure exactly what we’re expected to do with our time, honestly. It’s not like there’s some other thing we could be doing. You know, the kind of thing that sucks up hours upon hours of free time. The kind of thing that people skip work or school for. It’s not like we have any games like that to play. No. Nothing like that.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have to go steal a car. And then we have to play some more Grand Theft Auto.

*No, we’re not really going to steal a car, and neither should you. It’s the law!

Vigilante 8 Meteor screenshots crash land

After doing our not so daily internet rounds, we came across a few “newish” screenshots from Isopod Labs’ upcoming XBLA release Vigilante 8 Arcade. The new screenshots (viewable in the gallery below) are taken from the Meteor Crater arena and not only depict the usual explosive vehicle gameplay we all know and love, but also some of the arena’s unique features including dust devils, tunnel teleports and (of course) meteor showers. We must admit, V8 is coming together quite nicely.

Audiosurf not coming to XBLA [update]

Thursday, April 24th, 2008 by admin

[Update: Audiosurf creator Dylan Fitterer just wrote us to say “Must have been a miscommunication. I never said Audiosurf was coming to XBLA.”]

If you haven’t played Audiosurf, you’re missing out on one of the best fusions of music and game since Milon’s Secret Castle. After importing any MP3 you like, you’re hurtling down a procedurally-generated course collecting and destroying gems, with every twist and turn created by your music. We know, we know, we’re explaining it poorly. You really just have to try it.

According to GamesTM, you might soon have another way to do just that. In a feature about Audiosurf, the magazine reported that the game will be available “soon on Xbox Live Arcade.” It seems like it would be a great fit on XBLA, so here’s hoping we get some more official word soon.

[Thanks, Jonah]
