We’ve been waiting for Harmonix to deliver the promised Xbox 360 wireless Rock Band guitar controller for a while now, and it looks the company is stealthily getting them out there. Pre-orders have been trickling out for about a week, and alert reader Greg just sent us these shots of the controller in the wild at his local Best Buy. Oddly, he says the in-store price is $79.99 while the BestBuy.com price is $59.99, so if you’re looking to cut the cord, you might want to save some cash and order online. Oh, and remember — this bad boy doesn’t work with Guitar Hero, so don’t say we didn’t warn you. One more shot after the break.

Xbox Live up and running, but still having “difficulties”

As you may have noticed, Xbox Live has been a little wonky as of late and, according to Microsoft’s latest status update, it looks like it could stay that way for at least a little while longer. While the service itself is apparently “up and running,” it seems that anyone matchmaking or using client voice communication may “experience difficulties,” which is just a little bit more than a minor issue. No word on a full return to form just yet, but it seems that the folks in Redmond are on the case.

Third-party Xbox 360 wireless Guitar Hero axe hits the market

Although Nyko’s wireless FrontMan axe is slated to land for Xbox 360 this June, it seems as though it has been beaten to the proverbial punch by some random rival from who knows where. Known only as “3rd Party,” the aforementioned company has seemingly crafted a wireless Flying V that plays nice with the Xbox 360, and better still, it looks to be available right now. Still, considering the fact that it’s labeled “Guitar for Games” and designed to function with the “X 360,” we’re not entirely sure we’d be willing to risk our $41.94. But hey, if you see “quality” written all over that image pictured above, we certainly aren’t going to stop you from pulling the trigger and hoping for the best.

Microsoft unloads 500 GTA IV Xbox 360 Elite consoles

While folks at the Xbox 360 repair lab know good and well how to strip a console back to its birthday suit, Microsoft is going the opposite direction with its limited run of Grand Theft Auto IV Elites. The console itself is purportedly blasted with automotive quality paint and each one is individually numbered. Apparently, the 500 units — which look to come with a case full of peripherals — are only being dished out to press outlets and the like, so it seems your only shot at actually acquiring one is by scouring the second hand market. Or you could just steal one and toss a Molotov cocktail behind as you’re getting away — that’d be fitting, we guess.
