VeriSign CEO, William Roger earns $8.1 Million in 2007 Compensation

NEW YORK - William Roper, the president and chief executive of VeriSign Inc., which runs some of the Internet’s core systems, received compensation in 2007 valued at $8.1 million, according to a proxy statement filed Wednesday.

Roper, who became VeriSign’s president and CEO on May 27, 2007, received a salary of $421,154, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Roper also received $405,000 in non-equity incentive plan compensation and other compensation of $117,169, which included $114,952 in non-employee director retainer fees. VeriSign also reported that in 2007 Roper received restricted stock and stock options that were valued at $7.2 million on the date they were granted.
